There’s still at least a couple of months to go before Apple unveils its next iPhone lineup, but the Rumor Mill hasn’t stopped churning out new things to go over anyway.
The latest images were surfaced by HDBlog, initially discovered on the Chinese forum Baidu. The new leak not only includes what is said to be schematics for the upcoming iPhone 7, but also molds for both devices held up side-by-side for comparisons sake. The molds, if true, would apparently confirm oft-rumored features headed, or not headed, for both devices.
Specifically, the molds do seem to confirm that the dual-camera sensor that has been talked about so frequently will indeed be an exclusive feature to the larger, 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus. That would line up with plenty of past leaks and rumors, so there’s no big surprise there.
However, plenty of new reports have surfaced recently that suggest the 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus will have one other feature that the smaller, 4.7-inch iPhone 7 won’t: A Smart Connector. Indeed, recently leaked blueprints for both devices showed that the iPhone 7 Plus would indeed feature a dual-camera setup on the back, but also boast the Smart Connector as well.
However, these molds do not show holes for the Smart Connector on either handset. It’s possible that the holes for the feature were added later, after these particular molds were taken, but if they are true then it would confirm the Smart Connector won’t be making its presence felt on this year’s iPhone lineup.
So, once again, we get another contradicting report. Which is about the norm for these types of things, leading up to an official announcement, which should arrive this fall.
Leading up to this leak, over the weekend saw quite a bit of excitement for leaked parts and features. Specifically, we not only saw what is believed to be the chassis for the iPhone 7, which shows a larger camera lens, but also a prototype case indicating that the new iPhone could boast four speakers. Finally, a leaked component part for the iPhone 7 Plus confirmed, yet again, that the device will feature a dual-camera setup — and could boast 256GB of built-in storage.
Are you hoping the iPhone 7 Plus features a Smart Connector?
