Lenovo’s Motorola is set to launch the new Moto e3 Power in India today. The company has been posting about the upcoming event on its social media page, and will have a live-stream for the launch, which starts at 3pm today. The Moto e3 Power first went on sale in Hong Kong towards the end of August this year, and the regular Moto e3 version of the phone was also spotted the company’s IFA booth in Berlin. Based on teasers from the company, the smartphone looks set to be a Flipkart exclusive.

Motorola’s Moto E smartphone was one of the winning budget brands, and one that offered pure Android at a price point of Rs 6999. Moto e3 was officially announced in the UK in July 2016 and has a 2800 mAh battery; the Moto e3 Power is a battery focused smartphone which comes with a 3500 mAh battery. It makes sense Motorola is bringing this phone to India given rivals like Xiaomi are offering Redmi 3s with a 4100 mAh battery at a starting price of Rs 6,999. A good battery life remains an important consideration for many users in India when picking a smartphone.

Moto e3 Power series has a design similar to the one seen on Moto G4 and G4 Plus; Motorola also launched the Moto G4 Play in India at a price of Rs 8,999. The Moto G4 Play has a 5-inch full HD display and Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, 2GB RAM and 16GB storage (expandable to 128GB via microSD) along with a 2800 mAh battery.

The Moto e3 Power on the other hand has 5-inch display with 1280 x 720 pixels resolution and Gorilla GLass 3, a quad-core MediaTek processor clocked at 1.0GHz coupled with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage (expandable storage up to 32GB via dedicated SD card slot). Moto e3 Power has an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel selfie shooter. The camera rear camera also supports features like geo-tagging, panorama and HDR. Moto e3 Power runs stock Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

The battery is the USP of this phone at 3500 mAh, and given the Moto G4 series now has the price points of Rs 9,000 to Rs 15,000 covered, the Moto e3 Power is likely to be priced much lower, probably the Rs 6,999 price tag the ‘E’ series has always got in India.

We’ll have more updates from Moto e3 Power launch, and a first impression of this device soon.
