Coolpad launched the powerful Coolpad Note 3 smartphone at an affordable price tag of Rs. 8,999 in India last year. The company claims that the device is a huge success in the country and has sold over 1,50,000 units of the Coolpad Note 3. Now, the company has officially launched the smaller variant of the smartphone called as Coolpad Note 3 Lite in India. The Note 3 Lite is priced at Rs. 6,999 and will also be available for purchase exclusively online via starting January 28.

Commenting on the launch, LI Bin, CEO, Coolpad Group said, As the smartphone market gears for a revolution, India has become a crucial source from Coolpad`s strategy point of view. This has been clear from Coolpad`s investment strategy that is in line with India`s Make in India initiative. We are proud to announce that, by the first quarter of 2016, we will start manufacturing Coolpad Note 3 from Videocon`s Aurangabad factory. Our target is to produce 1 million “Make in India” Coolpad phones by the H1 of 2016. Initially, around 15,000- 20,000 devices will be imported from China and rest will be manufactured from India, going forward India will be the sole distributor for SAARC regions.

The main USP of the Coolpad Note 3 Lite is it features fingerprint sensor that unlock the device in just 0.5 seconds. It is one of the cheapest smartphones to feature a fingerprint sensor at that price tag. The device comes with slightly smaller 5-inch HD (1280×720 pixels) IPS display with 294ppi as pixel density and Scratch-resistant glass for protection. The smartphone supports dual sim dual standby and runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop based Cool UI 6.0 out of the box.

On the camera cordon, the smartphone sports a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front shooter for video chats and selfie lovers. The smartphone comes powered by MediaTek MT6735 64-bit quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz paired with Mali-T720 GPU and 3GB of RAM. It includes standard connectivity options like 4G-LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/A-GPS and microUSB 2.0 port with OTG functionality.

The device has 16GB of onboard storage and also includes a microSD card slot for expansion upto 32GB. The handset packs a 2500mAh battery that is rated to last easily for an entire day on mixed usage. The company has also revealed that the smartphone will be manufactured in India in partnership with local electronics brand Videocon. The dimensions of the handset measure 140.8 x 70.4 x 8.9 mm weighs around 152 grams and comes in Black and Champagne White color options.
